“CAVALADE OF MAGIC”  FUNDRAISER FOR GLENFOREST SCHOOL

Columbia, SC – Announcing  Cavalcade of Magic, a fundraiser for Glenforest School, November 15, 2008, 11:30 AM & 7:30 PM.   Starring John Tudor and the Society of Young Magicians, the family friendly show features magic, escape tricks, mind reading, close up magic, and other surprises. Tickets for the show are $7 adults, $5 children, available at the door. Cavalcade of Magic features the leading magicians in the midlands, with the best young magic talent.  It stars longtime pro magician John Tudor, award winner Brandon Wagster, and beloved storyteller/magician Sarah Straney. Emcee will be the mysterious Joey Vazquez; with new talent Cameron Burks (escape artist) and mind reader Bauer Westeren. The Society of Young Magicians (students of Tudor’s Magic School) have been featured in recently at Workshop Theatre, Trustus Theater, the Township Auditorium, and Riverwalk Amphitheatre. “NATIONAL MAGIC WEEK”  PROCLAIMED IN COLUMBIA BY MAYOR COBLE

October 24 to November 1, ‘08, National Magic Week

Columbia, SC – The Midlands Society of American Magicians introduces National Magic Week, October 24-November 1, 2008 (the anniversary of Houdini’s death, Oct. 31). An Official Proclamation by  Mayor Bob Coble announces the special week of events highlighting the charitable/educational work of magicians. From shows by visiting professionals, to local young performers, to memorabilia displays,  Official Magic Week events include:

For more than forty years the Society of American Magicians has recognized the memory of Harry Houdini with this special week of events.  The Society of Young Magicians stars in this new event for Columbia.

MAGICIAN TUDOR ELECTED TO NATIONAL OFFICE

West Columbia, SC - Local magician John Tudor has been named Regional Vice President of The Society of American Magicians for the South Atlantic states (NC, SC, GA, FL, AL, MS). As VP Tudor will interact and act as liaison between professional and amateur magicians and their international counterparts.  This position was awarded on the basis of Tudor’s work with S.C.A.M. (the South Carolina Association of Magicians), now in it’s fourteenth year of charity events for Children’s Hospital, and his teaching of young magical artists (as seen recently at Workshop and Trustus theatres in Columbia). Awarded at the International Brotherhood of Magicians/Society of American Magicians convention in Lousiville, KY; Tudor will next be presenting his work for the SAM at the Magic Castle in Hollywood, CA.

-Columbia, SC A young Merlin finds a mystic crystal ball, and from inside he unleashes The Many Faces of Magic. Featuring the area’s five leading professional magicians, it’s a benefit performance for the capitol campaign for the “new” Workshop Theater.

Within the family friendly story, you’ll be amazed by Matt McCoy, John Tudor, Joey V., Sarah Straney, and Brandon Wagster, performing in a variety of styles: from cabaret sleight of hand, to the fantastic and mystical, to modern/futuristic magic. The Many Faces of Magic combines legend with levitation, hocus pocus with a blast of Broadway. Come early at 7 pm for the pre-show: close up magic with Bob “Cowboy” Watkins, and Bates Jernigan, juggling by Ralph Summer, and fire stunts with Steve O /Fire and Motion.
